Should you use a Smith Machine?
What’s up everyone.
Let’s talk about the piece of kit in the gym that a lot of people love to bash on from misinformed individuals…The Smith Machine.
“What about your stabilizers bro?”
“Those machines aren’t functional”
“Machines do the work for you”
“What sort of man uses a smith machine to squat?”
All complete nonsense from low IQ skinny fat lifters.
What are the main benefits of a smith machine?
The body doesn’t know how it’s receiving tension.
Mechanical tension = prime driver of hypertrophy.
The “stability” is our friend when hypertrophy is the goal.
Machines increase stability which improves force production through the target muscle.
The body will then sense this stability and you’ll be able to maximize recruitment of the high threshold motor units (HTMU) in the desired target muscle.
This then allows you to create more mechanical tension in the target muscle per set.
Elite Smith Machine movements?

-Incline/flat/shoulder presses
-Lunges/split squats
-Chest supported row
-Standing calf raise
-Good mornings
