You're using the logbook WRONG (Do This Instead)
What’s up everyone!
You should be tracking your training in the first place.
Whether that be notepad, app or whatever…you should be logging (what get’s tracked gets measured)
But so many people fall into the trap that they HAVE to lift:
-5lbs more every week
-Get an extra rep
-Turn into the worlds strongest man in a year
Obviously at a certain point you’re gonna realise that this can’t happen.
People chase the whole “beat the logbook” by any means necessary approach via letting form get sloppy towards the end of a set.
The whole success of their session is based on “beating last time” and that’s a dark path to go down.
You NEED to develop more patience.
Focus on chasing the stimulus on a target muscle.
DON’T sacrifice from to make this happen.
Your lifts SHOULD progress over time.
But it doesn’t need to be weekly.
Can easily hold the line for 2/3/4/5 weeks and ultimately you’ll get a breakthrough naturally.
The +1 in being able to get an extra rep with the same load…or earning the ability to add 2.5/5lbs will come.
Remember…the logbook is an expression of progressive overload/positive adapatations taking place.

Talk to you all in the next one.
